How Do I Redeem HP Tuners Tuning Credits Purchased from The Tuner Store?

Buying credits is the easy part. Getting them onto your device takes three steps, and they have to happen in order. Here's the whole process, plus what to do if you have questions.

Step 1: Send us your serial number

Credits are assigned to a specific device, not to your account and not to your order. At checkout there's a text field for your serial number — put it there and the process starts immediately.

Forgot to enter it? No problem, it happens constantly. Reply to your order confirmation email with the serial, or send it through our contact form with your order number attached. You can also call or text us via 205-358-4052. Regular business hours apply. 

Your serial number is printed on the back of the device, on the box it shipped in, and inside your HP Tuners account if you've already registered the interface.

Step 2: We assign the credits via HP Tuners' site

This step is on us and it can't be automated. We log into our HP Tuners dealer portal and assign your purchased credits against your specific serial number. Credits do not load automatically just because an order went through — a human on our end has to push them. 

Credits are processed 9-5 EST, Monday through Friday. If your order lands outside business hours and is urgent, please try texting us or using the chat on this site. We try to be as helpful as we can, and we appreciate your understanding if it isn't seen until the next business day. We're a small crew, which is also why we can pick up the phone-equivalent fast when something's wrong.

Step 3: SYNC your device

On your computer, with the interface plugged in: open VCM Suite and click SYNC at the top of the window. The device contacts the HP Tuners server and pulls down your credit balance. Obviously, an internet connection is required. 

That's the whole thing. Credits appear in your account and on the device.

If SYNC doesn't show your credits

Is VCM Suite current? Older versions don't reliably pull updated credit balances. Update your VCM Suite and SYNC again.

Still nothing? Send us your order number and serial number through the contact form or hit us on chat. We'll confirm the credits are assigned on our end and escalate to HP Tuners if the problem is on their side.

What "universal" actually means

The universal tuning credits we sell work across MPVI4, MPVI3, MPVI2+ and MPVI2, and across all supported vehicle brands. You don't need to match a credit type to a device generation. If you have more than one interface in service, just tell us which serial number you want them loaded against.

Different credit quantity by vehicle

The first time you apply credits to license a ECU, it unlocks to that ECU permanently. From then on you can read, modify, and write that vehicle as many times as you want, forever, on that single license. You can license as many different ECUs as you want, and you can have multiple MPVI4s licensed to the same ECU (example, your device & your tuner's). 

The license does not travel. Sell the car, buy another one to tune, and you need a fresh license. Come back to us for more credits on that next project. You can see how many credits are needed for your vehicle on our Universal Credits page. 

Credits are non-refundable once assigned

Once credits are loaded to a serial number, they cannot be pulled back off. That's an HP Tuners policy and it applies to every dealer, including us — there's no mechanism on our end to reverse an assignment.

So if something about your order looks wrong, tell us before we assign them. At that point, we can still swap or refund. After assignment, it's a one-way trip.
